#TakeoverTuesday with Amplified Ale Works

Feb 20, 2020 - Heather Dewis

Like many San Diegans, Amplified Ale Works‘ founders, Alex Pierson and J.C. Hill, bonded over shared love of surfing, life music, and craft beer. Once their side project, the company now boasts two locations (Pacific Beach and East Village) with a Lemon Grove production facility in the works. Plus, the company has built a following of craft beer and live music enthusiasts who enjoy the California-style Mediterranean cuisine the team cooks up.

Besides the chance to contribute to a great brewery in a beautiful region, a big perk of working at Amplified Ale Works is their investment in their team. Heidi, the company’s director of culture, moved out to San Diego 11 years ago. After falling in love with the beer culture here, she “started as a server…and worked [her] way up.” Teammate Brian shares a similar career path. Originally from Northern California, he has lived in San Diego since 2012. “I started as a bartender, but now I’m the director of beverages,” he says. “I curate the beer list, do the purchasing, and organize the walk-in keg.”

Like many San Diego eateries, Amplified prides itself on being dog-friendly—a definite perk for both your furry friend and for the team. And in their free time, the team enjoys taking advantage of regional perks. You can find them visiting other brewery friends, taking in local shows, surfing by the beer garden, and opening their music venue with impromptu jam sessions.

Amplified Ale Works currently boasts beer gardens with live music in Pacific Beach and East Village, with a Lemon Grove production facility planned. With this facility, the team is giving its community of craft beer fans, live music enthusiasts, and San Diegans the chance to invest in a local business. You can find more information at Amplified’s Wefunder page.
