Here at San Diego: Life. Changing., we’re always talking about how lucky we are to live by some of the world’s best beaches and surf spots. Hobie Cat goes one step farther – by bringing San Diego’s sand and surf to the world. Originally a surfboard shaping company, the Oceanside-based company now manufactures sailboats, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks for both fishing and recreation.
Senior Fishing Brand Manager Morgan loves working for Hobie because of the company’s amazing history…plus, he’s a loyal customer. “We’re known for innovation and we’re also known for making the best fishing kayaks in the world,” he says. “I love kayak fishing. I fish out of our products almost every weekend, and what’s better than doing that?” Industrial Designer Amanda agrees: “My favorite thing about working at Hobie is the culture here. Everybody’s really into water sports – surfing, sailing, kayaking. Everybody who works here is totally into the products.”
It’s always chill o’clock somewhere at Hobie. To recharge, employees golf on a mini outdoor green and test out some of Hobie’s newest products. But the best perk? Industrial Designer Will says, “I love living in San Diego because I get to work outside in January.” #JustSayNoToWinter
