San Diego: Why now?

Many people around the world know San Diego for its beaches, surf, and killer tacos. While all those things may be true, San Diego has grown into being much more than just a sleepy beach town. Ranked No. 1 for expected tech job growth and home to a robust startup ecosystem, San Diego is poised to become an unstoppable force…and people are taking notice.

Transplant ‘techies’ have dubbed San Diego as “the ultimate life hack.” Who doesn’t love a diverse community of really smart and friendly people, really good beer, and really nice weather? Moving here to San Diego from Chicago, Qualcomm’s Carrie Sawyer said, “San Diego is the best kept secret in the United States.” And while secrets can be good for preserving a certain status-quo (like best spot for California burritos or best surf spot on a Saturday), San Diego‘s companies and talent are growing too big to just keep to ourselves.

San Diego Venture Group and Wondertree Media created the San Diego: Why Now? video that shows why San Diego is one of the best places to build a company business. It highlights some of San Diego’s growing startups and why that they attribute much of their success to being located here. With praises like:

“Everyone is fiercely competitive and yet weirdly collaborative”

“The entrepreneurial spirit is here to stay, and it’s only going to get stronger and stronger”
