#TakeoverTuesday with Robo 3D

Dec 05, 2018 - Amelia Carlson

The robot’s are coming! This week’s #TakeoverTuesday was hosted by local 3D printing company Robo 3D. Robo designs and manufactures desktop 3D printers to empower the world to create, design, and bring ideas to life. Since its inception, Robo has sold tens of thousands of 3D printers to users in over 4,500 cities across 102 countries around the world. Today, the Robo team is continuing its mission to make the next generation of 3D technologies and focusing on bringing 3D printing into the classroom.

Co-Founder and SDSU alum Braydon Moreno toured us around their awesome office space and showed us just how simple 3D printing really is. All you need to do is design your model or find one online, save it onto a thumb drive, plug that drive into one of their 3D printers, choose a material, and voilà!

Braydon says that his favorite part about his job is “selling a machine that has the power to make a difference – something we have seen over and over again. Once a machine leaves our facility, we know that a majority of the time, we are going to see/hear how it has positively affected a person, a workplace, or a school, and that is something that motivates our team each and every day.” During the takeover, he noted that this technology is helpful to a range of people from teachers and fire departments to students with disabilities.

Braydon attributes San Diego to allowing him to have a fluid work/life balance. “You are able to work in a city that has tons of entrepreneurs and motivating/successful young talent, but also get to share that with the San Diego vibe consisting of events, restaurants, nightlife, beach, and amazing weather, of course.”
