2019 MCAS Miramar Air Show: a salute to first responders.
Sep 24, 2019 - Bernadine Locsin
Though San Diego has grown into much more than a military town over the years, the military strand of the region’s DNA continues to weave through much of what we do today. Home to the largest concentration of military forces in the world, it should come to no surprise that San Diego also hosts the largest military air show in the world, with an estimated 700,000 attendees during its three-day event. Now in its 64th year, the 2019 MCAS Miramar Air Show is paying tribute to some of the most important people in our country: everyday heroes in our local police, fire, and emergency medical forces.
With thrilling aerial performances by Marine Corps aircraft, U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, Red Bull Aerobatic Wingsuit Jumpers, and more, this year’s air show is sure to be the experience of a lifetime for people of all ages and backgrounds. In addition to the epic, jaw-dropping spectacle in the air, attendees will also get to enjoy some entertainment on the ground – like getting up close and personal with our troops, taking part in interactive experiences, learning about how our military forces work together, enjoying local food and drinks, watching BMX performances, and much more.
Here’s a look at last year’s air show:
All the festivities starts this Friday September 27. But if you can’t make it to the MCAS Miramar Airshow this weekend, you can catch all the fun on our Instagram Stories for a special edition #TakeoverSaturday. See below for the full schedule.
