Our innovative, patented technology is a form of Distributed Electric Propulsion that substantially improves aircraft performance while reducing environmental impact.

This is enabling technology for an exciting new era of aviation called Advanced Air Mobility, using hybrid/electric technology to create transformative aircraft capable of transporting people and cargo in ways that have never been possible before.

Wayfarer has a NASA contract to flight test a remote-piloted aircraft that will demonstrate the technology and collect research quality flight test data.

We have an exciting opportunity for an aerospace engineering intern to join our team for this project. You will be a key part of a small, fast-moving team developing cutting edge technology alongside subject matter experts from industry, academia, and NASA.

What You Will Do
The project is primarily focused on research and development of aircraft aerodynamics, including stability and control, high lift aerodynamics, and aero-propulsive interactions.

As part of a small team, you will be involved in all aspects of the project. This includes
•Design and build of aircraft modifications
•Aircraft systems integration
•Installation and calibration of the data acquisition system and sensors
•Flight test support
•Flight test data analysis

You will work closely with industry subject matter experts in aerodynamics, flight test, and certification as well as research partners from Embry-Riddle's Eagle Flight Research Center in Daytona Beach, FL, NASA Langley, and NASA Armstrong. You will have an opportunity for co-authorship on papers that publish the results of this project.

You will work onsite at our shop in Santee during normal business hours. Exact work days / hours are negotiable. Travel to the flight test site and occasional weekend work will be required to support flight testing.

You will assist our team in developing marketing assets showcasing our prototype aircraft and the company progress toward commercialization. This includes taking and editing photos and video, creating social media posts, updating the website, developing presentations and other marketing material, and market research.
