San Diego is a world-class city. But that’s not what attracts software engineers, developers, cyber professionals, and other experts to the Booz Allen office on Hancock Street.

“The draw is our team and the way we work,” says Alexa Montgomery, senior recruiter. “In most large companies, employees are cogs in the wheel, disconnected from higher-level projects.” It’s different at Booz Allen. “We work in close-knit, connected teams. People wear multiple hats and become subject matter experts in both consulting and technology. They make bigger decisions and don’t get lost in the shuffle.”

Tu Giron, senior recruiter, agrees. “People are our real product.”

Booz Allen also has strong relationships with military clients that feature multi-year contracts and different programs. “You don’t come onboard with an expiration date here.” Alexa explains, “Even if a contract ends or you want to make a career change, we have resources to help you find your next opportunity with us.”

Our focus on people is clear when you walk into the San Diego office, which was designed to cater to the way technologists and engineers work best. “It’s an agile floor—a central location where you can bounce ideas off people. It’s a comfortable place, not a cubicle zone,” says Alexa.

Chris Hong, a Booz Allen systems engineer, says he appreciates the way the San Diego–based team leans on each other to get answers so they can craft the right solution. “I’m always talking to other people in the company, relying on their experience to help me provide a better solution for the client. Since we support clients in the defense industry and other influential government departments, we’re empowered to do work that makes a difference.”
